Everyone Gets to Touch the Ball
A Flag Football Devotional
In tackle football, if you're not big and fast, you might play the whole season without touching the ball. Linemen block, defensive players tackle, and only a handful of skill positions actually run routes or carry the ball. But in flag football, everyone is eligible to catch a pass. Every player on the field could score a touchdown.
This changes everything. The kid who'd never get a chance in tackle football suddenly makes a game-winning catch. The adult who hasn't played since high school gets to run a route and feel like a playmaker. Flag football democratizes the excitement – you're not just watching from the trenches, you're actually part of the action.
This is a huge part of why people love it. Everyone matters. Everyone contributes. Everyone gets moments where they make a difference. You don't have to be a star athlete to experience the thrill of the game.
1 Corinthians 12:18-20 - "But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body."
In the body of Christ, everyone has a role and everyone matters. You don't have to be the pastor, the worship leader, or the Bible scholar to make an impact. Your gifts – hospitality, encouragement, practical service, administration – they're all valuable. God designed it so everyone gets to "touch the ball."
Too often, church feels like tackle football where only certain positions get to do meaningful ministry while everyone else just watches. But God's design looks more like flag football – every member actively contributing, everyone making plays, everyone experiencing the joy of being used by God.
Don't sit on the sidelines thinking you don't have anything to offer. You're eligible. Get in the game.
